How To: Configure & Use your free Vox Mahala Internet Connection in Windows XP
Overview
In order to dial into and log on to the Vox Data Network and use your free Vox Mahala dial-up internet access account. This document describes how to create and configure your free dial-up connection in the listed Operating Systems.
Applicable Operating Systems
• Microsoft Windows XP Professional Edition
• Microsoft Windows Home Edition
Configuration Process
1. To start the Network Connections tool, click Start, click Control Panel, double-click Network and Sharing Centre and then click Set up a connection or network in the left pane.
2. From the connection option list, choose Set up a dial-up connection and then click Next.
3. If you have more than one modem installed and connected to your computer you will be asked to choose the appropriate dial-up modem. When you click on a specific modem the following page will automatically load.
4. Type in “0878079999” as the Dial-up phone number; This is the number by which you reach Vox, which is your ISP and connect to the Vox Data Network.
Please note that when dialling from a Telkom South Africa telephone line calls are charged at R1.07 incl VAT per minute (as of Aug 2007). As such the Vox Mahala dial-up products are best for sporadic and additional use and suited to individuals spending less than 3 hrs on the internet per month. Should you spend more than 3hrs per month online Vox suggests that you try one of our other product specially suited to such needs. The previously mentioned pricing is dictated by Telkom South Africa. Vox Telecom has no vested interests in Telkom South Africa.
5. I. Username: voxmahala II. Password: free III. Connection name: Vox Mahala Free Please be sure to use lowercase when entering the username and password
6. Choose weather or not you wish to allow other people to use this connection
7. Click Next, and then click Finish to end the setup process.
Launching the Vox Mahala Free Connection
1. Click Start, click Connect To, and the click the connection that you want to use.
2. Click Dial
